About the role

As a Senior Application Engineer in the Illumination team, you will be the technical bridge between customers and ams OSRAM’s R&D and product development teams — designing the company’s components into leading illumination, visualization, and sensing solutions, and staying ahead of new technologies to keep the company’s global leadership in the industry.

What you’ll do

• Identify future applications and translate the requirements profile for new automotive LED products
• Act as the interface between the light experts at the customer and internal development departments
• Design system reference designs covering digital electronics, hardware, and software
• Drive key application development projects for future business
• Interface with segment engineering and product development, and with the CTO organisation as required
• Carry out technical market analysis
• Deliver technical training for distribution and Field Application Engineering

What we’re looking for

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with 5+ years’ experience with optoelectronic components and systems
• Experience with electronics, embedded systems, microcontrollers, software, optics, and thermal management
• Practical experience with technical market analysis and technical system specification
• Excellent communication and organisation skills, with proactive communication across locations in North America and globally
• Strong project management skills — a self-starter who solves complex problems, works independently, and is driven for results
• Very strong customer orientation, willing to travel to customers and other ams OSRAM locations domestically and worldwide
